This device is an invention of the Para Initiative in Synthex, and is used to signal the Sieve to bring someone back to HQ through a temporary portal that the Sieve creates.

The Portarray also has a wide range of advanced sensor technology built in, which greatly aids the science teams and explorers the Initiative sends out into the unknown. It can collect all sorts of data, as well as detect some portals.
